A one of one collectors car built with no expense spared.

There are restored cars, and then there are cars that redefine what restoration means. This 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS Coupe, a genuine Super Sport example, was stripped to bare metal, rebuilt from the X-frame up, and elevated into one of the most extensively detailed custom lowriders ever completed on Australian soil.

Every visible surface has been hand-engraved by Krazy Kutting of Arizona, one of the most revered names in the global lowrider community. The deep metallic Daytona Blue paint was laid by YC Customs, with a bespoke patterned roof by Mick at High Impact Auto Art. Inside, JV Trimming has executed a complete retrim in period-correct blue vinyl, housing a Dakota Digital dash, Alpine Bluetooth audio, and hydraulic controls that fall naturally to hand.

Open the boot and the theme continues: eight batteries, three pumps, polished engraved cradles and matching panels. Open the bonnet and crowds will gather. This is not a car that was built to a budget. It was built to a standard, and that standard is extraordinary.

Explore the Build

Intricately built from the frame up.

The most coveted collector cars aren't just restored, they're reinvented. This 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS Coupe was approached with that philosophy from day one. Every panel, every component, every surface was assessed, disassembled, and either rebuilt or replaced with something better. What emerged is a concours-grade custom lowrider with documented provenance, international-calibre craftsmen, and the kind of detail that stops shows dead in their tracks.

01
The Defining Detail

Krazy Kutting —
Hand Engraving from Arizona

If you want to understand what separates this Impala from every other custom build in the country, start here. Commissioned from Krazy Kutting of Arizona, one of the most decorated and sought-after engravers in the global lowrider community, the hand engraving on this car is not an accent. It is the foundation of the entire build.

Working exclusively on original factory components, never reproductions, Krazy Kutting engraved and chromed every exterior detail (save the rear aerials), every interior trim panel including door sills and jambs, the complete underside of the trunk lid, the engine bay air cleaner, rocker covers, and the underside of the bonnet itself.

The investment in this single element alone places the car in a category beyond most show builds. To commission this level of work from Krazy Kutting today would require years of waiting and a budget few are willing to contemplate.

Exterior

Daytona Blue —
Paint & Body by YC Customs

The bodywork was stripped bare and meticulously prepared before YC Customs laid down a bespoke deep metallic Daytona Blue, a finish that honours the car's factory heritage while elevating it into something unmistakably modern. The result is a colour that shifts in sunlight and glows under show lighting in equal measure.

Mick from High Impact Auto Art then applied a custom patterned roof design, one of the most technically demanding elements of any lowrider exterior. Period-inspired yet wholly original, it frames the roofline without competing for attention.

Dual rear antennas, fender skirts, flawless chrome accents, and 13" two-tone gold and chrome anodised wire wheels on white wall tyres complete an exterior that turns heads at 100 metres and holds them at arm's length.

Interior & Cabin

Cabin & Boot —
Trimmed to Show Standard

Step inside and the build's commitment to detail becomes personal. JV Trimming executed a complete retrim using blue vinyl and period-correct materials sourced from Ciadella Interiors, with factory SS bucket seats and centre console preserved, re-covered, and brought back to a standard that exceeds original specification.

A Dakota Digital instrumentation cluster replaces the factory dash with precision clarity. Alpine Bluetooth audio, a period Colour Bar accessory, a hidden subwoofer, and rear speakers recently upgraded and tuned, complete a cabin that is as liveable as it is impressive. A star-embossed headliner and hand-engraved trim throughout ensure no surface was left untouched.

The boot is a show feature in its own right: eight batteries and three pumps sit in custom polished and engraved cradles with matching panels, a hydraulic installation that is as much artwork as engineering.

Engine & Drivetrain

327ci V8 —
Engine Bay & Undercarriage

Raise the bonnet in front of any crowd and the conversation stops. The engine bay on this Impala is not merely clean, it is engraved. Krazy Kutting's work continues across the air cleaner, rocker covers, and every panel the tool could reach, including the underside of the bonnet lid itself. It is, without exaggeration, one of the most detailed engine presentations in any privately owned vehicle in Australia.

The rebuilt 327ci Chevrolet small-block V8, fitted with a mild cam and electronic ignition, delivers smooth, dependable power through a Turbo 350 automatic transmission. A braced Chevrolet differential and reinforced suspension components ensure the car handles hydraulic operation daily without compromise to ride quality or reliability.

Provenance & Recognition

Cruzin Magazine —
Cover Car & Collector Status

The 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS is the undisputed centrepiece of lowrider culture, the car that defined a movement, immortalised in film, music, and six decades of show culture. Finding a genuine SS example is rare. Finding one built to this specification is, in practical terms, a once-in-a-generation opportunity.

Since completion, this car has earned its place as both a feature and cover car in Cruzin Magazine, Australia's foremost custom car publication. That recognition is not gifted to ordinary builds. It is earned by cars that represent the absolute pinnacle of the craft.

For the serious collector, the investment case is clear: a verified show winner, internationally recognised craftsmen, documented provenance, and a platform that only continues to appreciate. Cars of this calibre do not come to market often, and when they do, they do not linger.

Rare opportunity for one of the most unique and valuable 1964 Impala SS lowriders to reach the Australian market.
